Department Name STEP DOWN UNIT Job Description POSITION SUMMARYNonexempt (Hourly - Eligible for overtime) To perform receptionist and clerical duties that supports the nursing staff, physicians and the nursing unit assigned.
To transcribe orders, answer telephones and assist with admissions and discharges.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSHigh School Diploma or GED required.
CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND SKILLSManage the desk area answering phones, call lights, paging, visitors, and transport May transport medication to and from the pharmacy according to established policies.
Assist with discharge phone calls and patient follow up as directed Assists in transferring patients to or from assigned department.
Ensures patient has all correct charts and medical records for transfer.
Bed management assistance Transcribes physician orders accurately and according to hospital policies and procedures.
Models behaviors congruent with Patient Promise Monitor new orders and results and communicate to clinical staff Overall Core Job Responsibilities ratings Performs various administrative duties for the department as needed.
Assist clinical staff with phone calls Assists with the admission and discharge of patients as needed.
Work orders when indicate for workstations, copiers, printers, medical supplies Charge entry and checking for charge accuracy Maintain any forms staying on the paper chart Manage census boards Notify consultants of the need to see a patient by managing consult system lists in EPIC Order medical and office supplies as well as educational material Orders equipment and supplies for the department as required.
Performance improvement chart audits for compliance; maintains logs and speadsheets as needed Procedure scheduling Removes and transcribes medication and other orders from patient records and ensures delivery to correct department.
Also transcribes labs and treatments and other orders from patient records into the computer system.
