Department Name EMERGENCY ROOM Job Description POSITION SUMMARYTo provide Emergency Room technical support for physicians and nurses to optimize patient care.
To assist physicians and nurses in exams and to transport patients to other departments as needed.
Nonexempt (Hourly - Eligible for overtime) To assist physicians and nurses in exams and to transport patients to other departments as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSHigh School diploma, or evuivalent required.
High School diploma, certificate of high school course work completion or GED required.
CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND SKILLSAssumes responsibility for fracture immobilization and splint application.
Performs wound care and dressing changes when needed.
Acts as preceptor for new employees.
Assumes responsibility for cleanliness of room and stocking supplies needed for ED patients or procedures.
Washes and cleans instruments for re-sterilizing.
Cleans all rescue equipment and secures it in storage.
Performs EKGs, cardiac monitor application and identifies lethal dysrhythmias.
Recognizes abnormal vital signs and reports all irregular findings to a registered nurse or physician.
Prepares patient for evaluations and procedures.
Arranges sterile trays for ED procedures and assists physicians by passing instruments or with sutures.
Transports patients to/from other departments using stretchers, wheel chairs or other methods.
Assists with related clerical duties such as order entry, answering phones and other administrative functions.
Conducts POC testing and maintains annual competencies.
Performs venipuncture, blood cultures or other lab sample collections.
